The MayFest Parade

All welcome to take part in the MayFest Parade! We set out from the Town Hall at 10.45am on MayFest Monday, we’ll again be following the amazing sound of the Newton Aycliffe Pipe Band and the MayFest Royals will lead the parade into the Castle. Why not…

  • make something to wear or carry at our MayFest Makers sessions at Richmondshire Museum on Saturday or Sunday?

  • resurrect your World Book Day costume for the parade?

  • wear your favourite movie character outfit?

  • make an amazing outfit just for MayFest?

NB - as it’s all happening on May 4, we think it might be fun to come dressed up as a character from a galaxy far, far away…

North East Early Music Playing Day at the Town Hall

If you’re wondering what early music is, it generally covers anything from medieval music to Baroque music. It can be pretty flexible, but generally expect to hear earlier styles and generally played on period instruments - the musical instruments that match the time the music comes from.

Members of the North East Early Music Forum gather from across the region to perform at Richmond Town Hall as part of MayFest. It’s a lovely way to relax for the afternoon and enjoy an amazing range of musical sounds.

Refreshments available. Free admission but donations very welcome!
